GREAT MUSIC

The Listening Lounge is a cozy downstairs lounge area combining all of the wonders of great live music, curated cuisines and personally crafted cocktails. Guests will enjoy performers who collaborate to perform a variety of sounds while sharing colorful stories about their songs. This "music first" style experience is unlike anything else in our area, and has very limited seating and a nominal entertainment fee per guest reservation. If you cannot get a reservation, we recommend you still come as there are multiple lounge shows in a night and we serve people on a first come, first serve basis for additional seating.  We recommend you request a reservation early as many nights reach capacity.

*In an effort to support our artists, customers will pay a $5 entertainer fee per guest when they reserve in advance, or on their final bill at the table for walkups. This does not include admission to ticketed shows in our Legendary Listening Room theater upstairs that are available at PurplePass.com.

Open Fridays & Saturdays

The Legendary Listening Room

The Legendary Listening room is a historical landmark erected in 1925. This 400 seat theater sits inside the historic Woman's Department Club. This theater boasts some of the best headlining shows in this area of Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas. Crowds gather to experience a musical performance with heightened reverence for the performer and their craft. The theater environment is up close and personal, and unlike most other venues an additional video presentation is provided for most shows to enhance the visual experience. An upstairs concession area is also complimented by our Louisiana Grandstand app where patrons can order to their seats at no additional expense. Check ticket information for door times and show start, as well as other important information.

About the Woman's Department Club:

The club, born of the suffrage movement following the turn of the century, was founded and furthered by prominent Shreveport ladies who dedicated their time and effort to creating opportunities to expose women to eduction, literacy and equality opportunities in the local area. The club boasted many "departments" such as education, arts, home learning and other skills for developing stronger cultural ties and advancement for women. Those early pioneers of culture had the foresight to create a 400+ theater atop the second floor of the clubhouse.  This theater was used for lectures and performances, as well as other club related events.     The WDC theater was built at the same time of the Strand Theater, which makes both facilities the oldest theaters in Northwest Louisiana. Today, the theater sits in almost pristine condition with and excellent space for an elevated - but intimate - musical and performance experience.     After struggling with the result of COVID-19, the club partnered with the Louisiana Grandstand in 2020 to help grow awareness and use of the historic building, affectionately known as the "Lady on Line". What started with monthly concerts billed as the Shreveport Opry has now blossomed into a growing schedule of touring artists, showcases of regional talent and a hub of music development. This partnership has worked tirelessly to restore the building in many ways, including an installation of a new roof and other cosmetic repair projects beginning in 2022.     The Woman's Department Club is still active today and meets every Thursday with their variety of programs and exhibits for its members. Your patronage and enjoyment of the building with each of our events continues to help with the upkeep of the building and preserve an important historic landmark in our area.

  • What is the Legendary Listening Room?
The Legendary Listening Room is the 400 seat theater on the second floor of the venue. This is the space known for headlining touring musicians stopping to perform unforgettable concerts in a theater setting that captivate audiences from all over the country. Treat yourself to culinary treats you cannot experience anywhere else, as well as personally crafted premium cocktails. The Listening Lounge is generally open on Fridays and Saturdays. • What is the point of downloading the Louisiana Grandstand app?
This is quite simply the best way to keep up with what is happening and the latest merchandise drops at Louisiana Grandstand. Some events have other benefits included on a show to show basis.
  • Are my children welcome to attend a concert at Louisiana Grandstand?
Louisiana Grandstand events are typically all ages. Very small children 2 & under who sit in a parents lap do not need a ticket, but we strongly suggest bringing hearing protection for all children. Please check event listings for age restrictions.
  • Are there any clothing restrictions at Louisiana Grandstand?
Patrons are welcome to wear hats, but please respect other people behind you while seated in the theater and remove hats that may block visibility. Otherwise, we request that you dress respectfully toward others and refrain from wearing things that would embarrass your grandma. We reserve the right to deny attendance to anyone being disruptive to the enjoyment of other patrons.
  • I'm attending an event and coming in from out of town. Where should I stay?
There are several nearby hotels, but we caution you to read reviews before booking at a hotel. We have some recommended hotels on our "Plan A Visit" page. Despite great "deals", we do not recommend staying at the hotels nearest the airport.
  • Can I host my next event or concert at the Louisiana Grandstand?
